Following main lesson, students have four 45-minute periods each day of specialty and subject classes taught by different teachers. The weekly mix of specialty classes includes foreign language, handwork, music, physical education, woodwork, painting. These artistic and movement-based classes bring breath into the school day as do morning snack, lunch, and two nice, long outdoor recesses. Through their specialty classes over the years, children become adept at making beautiful things with their hands; they learn to sing, read music, and play instruments; they learn to draw, paint, and carve. And more! Specialty classes are not electives. Every Waldorf student participates in these classes from 1st though 8th. The well-roundedness of Waldorf graduates is a hallmark of this education.
