Jeremy Criswell, Butterfly Class Teacher, 4th Grade

Jeremy was led to teaching by his years of engaging children and community members in creating public art throughout the Rogue Valley. Each time he saw a group of students find success and excitement in reaching beyond what they thought they could do, he became more excited in the process of helping them learn.

As a classroom teacher, Mr. Criswell carries the awareness that each day we step forward into the unknown, using all that we have learned before. When a child’s learning grows at a natural pace, allowing for discovery and success, they step into new experiences boldly, with confidence in their ability to learn.

Before Joining the Siskiyou School, Mr. Criswell taught in grades 3-6 at Madrone Trail Public Charter School, in Medford. His first experiences with Waldorf education were around observing his own son at preschool. The daily rhythm, beautiful rituals, and parent education nights were of strong inspiration, and when the opportunity to join the Third Grade Waldorf class arose, Jeremy jumped at the chance.

Mr. Criswell grew up visiting family in the Applegate Valley and has called the area home for most of the last 20 years. He finds joy in cooking, sewing, and getting outdoors with his boys. Their home on 5 acres allows for endless creative opportunities, and plenty of restful quiet.
