Jen is a longstanding member of our greater Waldorf community as a parent and educator. She came to the position of 1st grade teacher with ten years of experience both as an early childhood teacher and grades teacher. From 2011 until June 2015 she founded and ran The Open Door, one of our Waldorf–based early childhood programs here in Ashland. Prior to creating her own school, Jen taught at Willow Wind Community Learning Center and at Children’s World Montessori. As her interest in Waldorf pedagogy grew, she decided to enroll in the Waldorf teacher-training program at the Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, CA. She completed her coursework in June 2015. Jen also has a Masters in Teaching from SOU. Jen loves to cook nutritious meals for friends and family. Her passion for nourishing the human soul is also an integral part of her intention while teaching. Aside from the kitchen and the classroom, Jen also enjoys hitting the pavement and running long distances. She has trained and completed five marathons and is always training for the next. Jen and her husband, Ronan, share five children: Kadin (15), Willa (14), Tadgh (13), Thea (11), and Sylvio (2 ½). Willa and Thea are at the Siskiyou School, in 8th and 5th.
