CLASS ASSISTANT: Matt Dusek

Matt Dusek

2007-2008 is Matt's fourth year working as Class Assistant. For three years he helped Class Teacher Debbie Murphy, taking the "Sapphire Class" from Grade One to Three. Matt will now start the assistant's journey over again by dropping down to assist Christine Crawley and the new first grade for the first part of each morning, until it is time for him to don his Games Teacher hat. Working alongside master teachers such as Debbie and Christine is an invaluable apprenticeship, he says. Downstream, Matt thinks of becoming a class teacher himself. He will be well-prepared indeed!.

CLASS ASSISTANT: Dustin Monda

Dustin graduated with a B.S. in psychology from Southern Oregon University in 2002 and worked as a counselor for the Lithia Springs Boys' program before joining The Siskiyou School in 2004. He has assisted in Ms. Gallwey and Mrs. Murphy's classes and currently complements and supports Ms. Cassagnau's second grade class. Dustin brings playfulness and enthusiasm to the classroom as well as an ability to attune to the individual needs of students. He enjoys music, reading, writing, hiking, biking, and traveling. Dustin lives in Talent with his partner, Tracy, and children Taylor, Ryan, and Olivia Nevaeh, their beautiful, but rascally new baby.

CLASS ASSISTANT: Cats Land

Cats' grounded and helpful nature serves her well in her capacity as Class Assistant. She is in her third year wth Jade's class. This year she will also spend part of her morning assisting First Grade. After graduating from Southern Oregon University in 2003 with a BS in Health Promotion and Fitness Management, Cats traveled with her husband, Tim, to Seoul, South Korea, where she led English through Movement classes for Korean children aged 5-16. She credits that experience, as well as running after-school care programs for at-risk children and working as a gymnastics coach, with helping her develop the flexibility required in the classroom. In the afternoons, Cats works at Eagle Mill Farm, a local educational farm. In her spare time, Cats enjoys preparing foods, traveling, biking, and reading.
